Trendsetters

This was my Facebook status a couple of days ago:
Lauren is annoyed that "Noah" is the 7th most popular boy's name for 2008.

Before our Noah, neither Nathan nor I knew anybody whose name or whose child's name was Noah. We thought we were being all unique, and all of a sudden, everywhere we go there is a kid named Noah. In fact, in my mom's group, populated by a whole ten women, three of us have sons named Noah. Seriously!

There's a cute little Noah (one year old) in Hannah's gym class too :-) Maybe you just set the trend!

Yes, and our moms probably thought they were being trendsetters too with names like Lauren and Amanda. Um, I think there were 6 Amandas in my 3rd grade class one year.

At least our Noah was born in early January, so no one can say we were following the trend.

Right as I read this post, my coworker got a birth announcement email for a Noah.

At least your name hasn't been the NUMBER ONE girl's name for the past eleven years running...

did you know that ssa.gov tracks all baby names? it is super interesting to see how popular specific names are over the past 100 years.
