Seven Months Old

Jane Elisabeth is seven months old today!

She is getting more active all the time. When before she was content to sit and watch everyone, now she has to be part of the party. She loves the people who love her, including her mommy, daddy, and especially her brother. Lately, she's been reaching for our faces a lot, and she seems to be very interested by them.

Jane's rolling around like a champ and sitting with support or even by herself for a few seconds. She's not showing signs of being about to crawl (getting up on all fours, rocking, etc.), but I would not be surprised if it's not too far off, since she really loves to get around from one toy to another. There's almost no point in laying her on a blanket to play anymore, because it's not long before she rolls right off it to go explore something else. She loves toys and is entertained by them for long periods of time; she even loves the ones that Noah didn't take much interest in.

She's eating a variety of foods now, and mangoes are her favorite. Who wouldn't like mangoes, after all? She's starting to try the pincer grasp, so I gave her some small pieces of sweet potato the other day, and she was bound and determined to pick them up. Unfortunately, she just ended up with mashed sweet potato all over her hands and none in her mouth. But she'll get the hang of it soon!

She just figured out how to jump today:

Saying that she is sweet just doesn't do her justice. Literally, every time she's in someone else's care, I hear about how sweet she is. She's just a dear. I think she'll be a lovely person someday (and, indeed, she is that, even now).

Timothy still grabs soft food a little too firmly. I think he was trying to juice his pear tonight at dinner.
